I'd buy the 40' for $800 If I lived closer but I don't.. now my car Isn't all that bad(Potential is there need's lots of metal work and I've got the metal and I'm practicing my welding slowly getting better I have a transmission but I don't know If It's the correct one the front door's aren't bad the bottoms need some fixing but the front door's aren't as bad as the back doors now I don't want my car to be a show car It will with time though But I'll use the front Fender's that came with It until I find/afford better ones now I have most of it all planned out I don't know where I'll find a 6-cyl or tranny but my car Isn't gonna be perfect for a long time gonna do things one piece at a time I have faith in myself and the car I refuse to scrap it or put a modern motor in it my point is I don't care for it being all nice looking right away but I have faith.. now I have rubber for the car It has have enough wires to wire the old gal up don't jump to conclusions but I will admit I will need help locating certain parts when the time comes

Do what you think is right for you.
I was thinking about your door hinge problem and this morning ran across this C.L. for a machinist. He makes dapping bowls which I know now are used in jewelry making. Anyway, maybe he can make a set of hinges for you. He could then make a few more sets for anyone interested in purchasing them. He is in Northern California and his phone number is listed. Just an idea.

I do not know anything about this guy, so proceed with due care and caution.

Thanks for the advice guys and I'm gonna message the guy to see if he'll make me some hinges and yeah everyone starts somewhere and I have faith that I can save my car I'm gonna work on it one thing at a time!!

I don't know if the hinges on a '40 120 are the same/similar to those on a '41 120(which I have), I think they are but I'm often wrong, so somebody please jump in and correct me if I am.

But if I'm right then 1) you'll need hinges as a pattern and 2) if you have the hinges for a pattern you'll have the hinges you need in your hot little hand! I doubt the guy in California would be able to make hinges for you, although he could undoubtedly turn up some hinge pins, which you could well need, but shaping an upper hinge might be another matter. The upper hinge is a curved piece of metal bolting to the front of the door frame then disappearing through a slot in the "A" pillar and mounting on the internal cowl structure(see pic from Parts List). The lower hinges however are the more conventional style(conventional that is for the '30's & '40's) extending past the door line and visible from outside the car.

I've also included a couple of pic's of the upper and lower door hinges on my 120 Coupe. Being a Coupe must be front doors, seeing they only have one door each side!

By the way I very much doubt "....I was wondering If I could use custom barn hinges??..." that would be workable.

Corey - you are potentially making a mistake not taking advantage of the opportunity on the engines. They could easily be strapped to a pallet and picked up by a freight company. $800 bucks is cheap cheap cheap for a running engine and one for spares....suggest you tell Grandpa and the family what you REALLY want for Xmas.

Edit - and by the way, it appears that the complete engine is a 1940 engine....serial number would confirm, of course.

I can't get the motor's because I'm not a millionaire I have enough cash in the bank to buy a complete 110 that's a running driver but that cash is for college/law school and If I asked anyone in the family they'd say I'm crazy especially my grandpa he extremely dislikes original/stock cars over the summer when I get a job then I'll be able to save up and buy stuff I do have a Spector bass guitar which is worth $700 but my dad gave it to me before he moved away but I'm also a musician and my grandparent's would get pissed at me If I sold any of my guitars I have a game system I'm gonna be selling to have cash but nowhere near $800
