Cant help you with the ID, but most of the times the numbers on those kinds of parts are casting numbers and not the actual Packard part numbers.

no. 6-53 is the machining date, ergo, June 1953, 26th series. I would look for a stamping on the outside of the case to clarify the ratio, or further spin the differential. often the ratio is stamped on the ring gear as well.
