Here is my take on what a contemporary Caribbean hardtop-convertible might look like. I love Teague's 1956 work, so you will find it a source of inspiration in this rendering. In step with the times, the cross-hatched grille inserts would be flat black...not silver or gold. The circle-and-vee might be all chrome. The side scripts could remain gold as per the original 55-56 versions!

Eight speeds with paddles!

Speaking of a modern interpretation of a 55/56 Caribbean attached is a rendering by Joan Creamer, first exterior designer for GM. She did this in 2016 as part of an exhibit presented by the League of Retired Auto Designer.

The reflection in the window being a 55/56 Caribbean is brilliant!
The rear lights, bumper and trunk reminds me of today's Cadillac.

Magnificent. I think I will use it as inspiration for the side and rear of my "Contemporary Caribbean.' Delighted that my original posting has brought in some other comments and material! Packard folk are the best.

It's amazing how well all the original elements in the 1956 version translate to a modern design. Loved the reflection and the design.

I think it's a really nice looking design. My only comment is that no car today has any styling cues picked up from the 1950s. If Packard were still in business today, would they have carried on all of those styling cues? Based on the fact that no one else has, I'd have to venture a guess that the answer is no. Still, I love the design of this contemporary version.
