Lug bolts rather than lug studs and nuts, not one of automotive engineering's better ideas. Of course, with the small wheel openings on the Series 22 on, probably only way to get the rear tires off!

All standard right hand thread on Packard regardless of side. As long as the support pin is intact, I much prefer bolts to studs as the threads are harder to accidentally damage by wheel removal and installation or even if dropping the drum while working on it. It also means no studs in the way for tire removal which is especially useful when using wider than stock tires.

ammiller83, looking at your picture that's not good. Anytime you see something wet, you've got a leak.

I'll side with PackardDon. I've worked with lug bolts and lug nuts. The bolts were a better idea and had the advantage of the pin to hold the rim in proper position. I started with a 52 250 and wound up with 56's. I much prefer the bolts.

I have a preference for lug bolts over studs and nuts, just as easy to mount/dismount wheels and less prone to damage.

I am taking the wheels off to replace the brake cylinder. Where is a good place to get brake parts?

You also might want to check with Bob Stoltzfus at Bob's Packard Parts, 717-426-1446. He's helped me out a number of times with parts for my '54.
