The bushings are pressed in. You can download the suspension portion (section XVI) of the 51-54 service manual from this site and the replacement procedure along with some important measurements are given. If your press is the type there is no room to support the side of the arm you are working on properly during the procedure you can make a spreader tool out of all thread and a coupling nut to mimic the function of the factory tool to hold the width dimensions so the arms are not distorted during the pressing.
The procedure for replacing bushings in the 55-6 cars is the same. Aside from ignoring the reference to special procedures and tools needed for holding the bars on TL equipped models the photos are much better and maybe worth downloading the suspension and steering chapter (section 16) of the 55-56 manual at the same time.

G'day topendkev,
to PackardInfo, but sorry I didn't do it sooner. Been trying to locate some photos of a front end rebuild from some yeara ago. Have now found them and they can be seen in this link. Also, I invite you to include your '53 Clipper in the Packard Owner's Registry. And......being you're in Oz I also invite you to join the Packard Club here, the Website of which can be accessed from this link. Once there you can download and complete a membership application form, if you're so inclined to do so.
