Okay, cool, I never heard of Evaporust. Fortunately, Amazon and Google are friends of mine.

I like the impacter idea, too. I have whacked a few things here and there, with no results. Good news is, I haven't broken anything.

Bad news, the engine is still stuck. I wonder, maybe I'll look at valves next.

I have enough else to do that I can piddle with this thing nearly indefinitely until it gives up. It's not holding me up.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

Good Morning...Definitely check the valves to see if they will move up and down...take the side covers off and see what you can see...lube them with the same rust stuff as the rings...You have the time, you will win! Ernie in Arizona

Just make sure that the Evaporust won't hurt any other metals that it might come in contact with (i.e. aluminum pistons). Read the label carefully. Evaporust is rather amazing stuff.

btw, I assumed since the problem cylinders weren't draining the penetrant the issue was rings. Trying turning the crankbolt counterclockwise and if you get some movement then it's probably a valve. Perhaps soak the whole thing with diesel/ATF for a few weeks and then come back to it.

You mean the bolt on the harmonic damper? I turn that leftie and it loosies. I'd need a big pipe wrench to turn that SOB counter clockwise.

Or use a lever of some description. With that(crowbar, big screwdriver or ????) you can try to turn the engine in the opposite direction to normal rotation.

Mopped out the ATF mixture yesterday and sprayed in some of the latest Miracle Rust Eater stuff.

Also, I put the breaker bar on for a check and . . . nope.

I ain't bettin' heavily on this stuff, either, but it smelled strong.

I have freed really stuck engines by:
Soaking the pistons in oil, heating the cylinders to 300 degrees F and putting the car in gear with a tow strap from the frame to a tree with a come along putting pressure on the engine. rocking the car forward and backwards pops them loose.
