This came to me in an email, sayiing:
"The car has the Russian version of Packard's V-8. It appears the the '56 Patrician soldiered on in Russia after the plant closed in the US. No captions came w/ these photos so I don't know if the engine is an Inline-8 or a copy of Packard's (then new) V-8." No comment, I hope Guscha chimes in. Mal, my faithful companion, the GAZ 13 is the car that you know under the name Chaika (seagull). GAZ means Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod (Gorky Automobile Plant).
It is equipped with a V8 engine. Substantial parts of the "Russian version of Packard's V-8" with a displacement of 335,6 cui are made of cast aluminium.

Just to get the adrenalin flowing I should mention that I chauffeured the Rammstein Chaika a decade ago.
