Hi all,
Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who services the dash mounted coil and ignition key combination found on the 1929 senior cars? Thanks

Some good stuff from him. It'd be nice if he put some prices on his website. I'll just assume that if I have to ask, I won't be able to afford it.

I just did away with mine after fighting with it for months. Put a conventional coil mounted on the outside of the housing with a single bolt late-model Mustang coil bracket and used a universal switch in there. Car runs and drives again finally, and since I'm not going to Pebble Beach anytime soon, nobody's going to really note the difference. And, it was about a $30 solution and works just fine, and if it does give more trouble years from now, it'll be a cheap and easy fix.

I did the same, an inexpensive new coil (plus a spare to carry) and an ignition switch bought from a boat shop. Apart from the slightly different bezel holding the switch, the difference was barely noticeable. The new coil has a slightly smaller diameter compared to the original so a sleeve around it allowed it to be clamped into the holder behind the dash.

Mike at KM Lifestyle fixed my coil/ignition lock, as well as rebuilt my voltage regulator. He does good work.

I guess I've gone the opposite direction. I switched from a modern coil, and put an original coil in. It always bothered me that it wasn't working "as designed." The one I had looked like NOS, so i had an electrical engineer look at it and test it out, and he said "good to go." So far so good. Works great.
It's good to know there's places like KM that can either rebuild it, or supply reproduction.

I am something of a purist for the most part, I like the cars to look and act factory correct, but when it came to this particular aspect, something that was expensive to replace and something that 99% of people will never see unless you bring it to a major CCCA car show, I went with the easier and cheaper route.

My crazy car has bigger issues I need to spend the money on that will make a much bigger impact. It's tough playing Packard when your wallet thinks you've got a Model A!
