Were slotted or phillips head trim screws used in '37?

Absolutely NO Philips in 1937. Only slotted.
I have decent luck finding them on Amazon and the local Ace Hardware, which has more stainless and chrome hardware selection than the big box stores do.

I ordered in mine from FASTENALL local store,
The guy there opened up his book and we were able to match head and length size really close. Be carefull in the trim around the door windows. I ended up with one a little long and ended up with a dimple on the inside of the door frame .... :(

Maybe it's different where you are but one can no longer walk into or call a Fastenal store here to order anything which is a result of COVID. They have apparently switched to commercial-only in some locations.

I knocked on the door and a gentelman came and opened it. I explained what I needed,
He ran a repair shop for over 30 years and helped me. PM me. As I can look for the part # and see about getting them to you

STORY GOES 1937 Cad & LaSalle were the first to see Phillips. Do not believe PACKARD saw them until later. Believe one of the Parts Books thinking early 40s has a fastener listing which show Phillips & Numbers. With the part number you could trace it back thru a late 30s Parts Book to find out there first use.

1938 was the first year that Packard used any Phillips screws.

Sounds about right as they first came about around 1932 so no one simply jumped into using them. I seem to recall that the interior window trim moldings of mt three 1940 110s were held on using chrome oval head Phillips screws.
