What have I knocked off :)

Home away from home

While taking off and putting back on my manifolds, a bit fell to the floor. I don't have a clue where it goes other than it still has the engine green paint on it.

To refresh mine is a '40 110.

Looks like the distributor lock plate, there ought to be a bolt down there somewhere.

Sounds good but it came off the manifold side.

It is possible that the part was lost years ago when it fell down behind the manifold. The mechanic could not find it so he got another one and put it on.

When you took the manifold off the first one fell on the floor.

Mechanics often find lost parts and sometimes tools this way on old cars.

Not unusual at all, just metric. 25.4 mm to the inch.

What holds the engine ventilator or road draft tube on yours? According to parts manual some engines in that era used a clamp held on with a 5/16 bolt with 3/4 head. That looks like it might take a 5/16 bolt.

Bingo! we have a winner. It is the clamp that holds the road draft tube to the block. Location is to the left of the left valve cover. PITA to put on, thats why the bolt was loose, maybe the only thing holding it on was baked on grease! Anyway, mystery solved. Hi to Annette. DAF

Hi DAF and Annet says hi back. Thanks to all for the answer and responses.

Easter break is over so it's on next weekends project list now :) Monday evening here. Sounds like one of those things that's gonna make me swear a bit.........
