For grinding down the pump body, do you just jig them up on a Bridgeport? I assume about 2 thou impeller endplay is the goal?

Wasn't planning on it. Are they available NOS, or you found some supplier?
I still need to inspect the oil pump I plan to use. Was going to today, but got tired 🥱

Packard replacement gears haven't been available in living memory. I bought the last of the Melling rebuild kits for Cadillac V8s and have figured out how to modify the Packard pump body to take the Cadillac gears and shafts. jack vines

On my Hash pump: (body number 471083)
Bore depth: 1.6287 Gear depth: 1.6255 So about 3 thou play. The cover plate is not perceptibly worn, either by depth mic or fingernail test.

Never seen the gears sold without both the shafts, because if the gears are worn enough to need replacing, it's a sure thing the shafts do also.

I’m in progress with the Olds pump replacement.
One thing I noticed the Packard pump pick up was” flexible “ As in it moved up and down. The Olds pump is very rigid. Was that a feature in the Packard pumps? Or was my pan wacked at one time leading to flexible flyer oil pickup? The pan has a noticeable ding in the bottom.
