Ok. I dropped the tank again. Reconfirmed ground. Did a ground in the gauge as well. Still no change. Then I hooked up my old original sending unit which worked fine before and same result. So it is not the unit since same results. I also tested by grounding the wire between the gauge and the sending unit and it did pop to full so gauge is in order. I am at a bit of a loss right now. The new unit is from Max M. Will call YnZ tomorrow and see if they have any thoughts.
Thanks for the feedback. If any other ideas please continue to pass along.
Ben

Run a supplemental ground wire from one of the screws on the top of the sender to a known good ground point on the car.

Sometime the tank doesn't have a good ground because of paint and those anti-squeak strips. I've always run a supplemental ground. It's just an easy CYA.

Definitely sounds like you need a better ground connection. I did run supplemental ground from my sending unit to the frame of the car. Here are a couple of pictures of the ground I had before replacing my sending unit. I used the same connection with the new sending unit, but forgot to take pictures.

Are they not for securing your removable B-Pillars?

I don’t think they are. I think this one pictures below is used for the pillars. This one is banged up and I am missing the other. They are different threads too so I don’t think it’s a replacement

I ran a second ground for the sending unit, and no luck. So I went back to the beginning and wanted to confirm power flow.

1. I started at the sending unit, and did not get a hot read. So went to the source.
2. I have a hot read going into the gauge from the wire connecting the ignition switch to the gas gauge.
3. But i did not get a hot read on the driver side where the wire goes to the sending unit?

I am fairly certain i got a hot read at some point when i was testing the harness, but can't be 100% certain. What I do know is that the gauge did work prior to starting the preservation effort.

Is this leading me to think that my gauge has decided to stop working similar to my solenoid? Or should I not get a hot read there?

Thoughts appreciated!
