Thank you for the quick response! I take it that is something under the dash edge that is not directly visible? I may have one with the solenoids I bought many years ago but if yours is in nice condition and available, I wouldn't mind another just in case!

The only part I have is the button and the short wire leading to it. I was going to wire that up to aftermarket power locks on the '54, but I just haven't gotten around to it.

I doubt much would happen. The breaker is over amped to protect multiple windows operating at the same time and the solenoids are only on briefly. If more than one window motor was stalled at a limit and switches were held down then it might trip if the locks were activated.

In case you see this Howard, on the 1956 grille mesh/screen shown in your own photo below, I presume the Clipper’s was held the same way as you described but rather than being peened potmetal, is it possible that these are heads of quick screws? I have quite a few of them somewhere just this size but now that I want them, they are not to be found but if I locate one I’ll add a photo. They have a super-steep spiral of probably less than a single turn and hold well in soft material. Their heads are plain and round just like the visible heads shown in your own photo below. On my car, this would of course apply only to the mesh in the bumper and I have an NOS one for it already but I also have a couple original spares to clean up and possibly sell so will need to disassemble.

I’ve had some difficulty with SMS in they’ve been waiting for me and I have been waiting from them, then having to piecemeal what construes a COMPLETE interior. With each invoice, one thing or another is missing but I think we finally have it worked out. As I may have mentioned, I took advantage of a COVID lockdown sale of a 19% discount by paying a deposit and taking a raincheck so finally getting it done even if the car itself isn’t close to being ready.

However, their most recent invoice specified some odd pattern for the headliner which they described as White/Black cloth w/squares and I’ve never seen a headliner like that. Does anyone know of a Packard or Clipper that uses such a fabric? Mine is a plain napped cloth.

While waiting for an answer in the above, here is my plan. As I am of an age where it is getting harder and harder to do the heavy work and I’m not getting any younger, I am going to strip down the paint from the body, and clean up the floors, repairing anything needed (so far only one spot needs some work), then have it sprayed locally and relatively inexpensively even if not perfect. No cars were perfect when they left the factory and I do not believe in over-restoration. I have much NOS pot metal for it already so it should go back together relatively quickly

Mechanically I’ve thought of taking the engine up to Jack Vines for a rebuild if he is willing and may end up doing do but there are local shops that can possibly to it too with Jack doing some of the more intrinsic stuff such as the oil pump. No, I am not going to convert it to the Oldsmobile type.

It does need a little sheet metal work and I have a local fellow with a portable welder with his own generator who is willing to help with that.

So for the floor stripping, what is being used these days to get it down quickly to the metal? I recall seeing some on the various blogs here where some kind of power tool did the job.
