I am actually kind of curious as to why Nevada didn't make you get their plates. Maybe they don't care about old cars as much or they are not as much of a revenue generator so treat them differently but as I'm sure you know, Calif DMV would be all over you if you were still a resident but had and drove registered out of state cars for that long.

With Hagerty, I have one car insured that is in another town from where I live and a couple others in another state. Maybe Nevada has special insurance issues but I rather doubt it.

Driving these vehicles around Vegas the past fifteen years no one has said anything. A couple neighbors thought as long as they have the current registration tags on the plates no one cares? The only one making an issue is Grundy.

I would check a bit online or with the DMV or if that's a horrible wait, a local police office probably could tell you. Some states, like Georgia, allow you to keep the original tag but keep the current or modern one in the car (glovebox, under the seat, doesn't matter). I don't recall specifically asking about a different state but I don't think at least here it was problematic. So, you may be able to maintain a driving tag vs. registered tag. My one car I confuse people, since Georgia doesn't require a front plate, I've kept the restored 39 PA plate (where the car comes from) on the front, and the aged 39 GA on the back.

I don’t think the point of whether it’s legal to drive them in Nevada with California registration (if that’s how they are) was the question but rather the issue that the insurance company has. That makes no sense to me as my Oregon cars have California registration, yet they are in another state. Whether or not it’s legal to continuously drive a vehicle in one state that is registered in another is to do with road taxes etc that are part of the fee for registering in most states and Nevada isn’t benefiting if they are not registered there. That’s not the question, though.

In times past here in Vegas for another car went to a couple police sub stations, and there are only a couple secretaries, everything is automated. A live police officer on the road will simply state I am not sure.

I have been with Grundy around 35 years with these two cars with no claims or issues. All of a sudden, when I called them got transferred several times, finally got someone who told me no.
