On my 37 I have a headlight/parking ground wire ran with the harness from the bulbs back to the bolt that attaches the inner fender to the core support.

Also, your ground wire should be as least the same thickness as the feed wire. I think this is also were people have issues.

On both the '54 and '37 I also ran a supplemental ground from the dash cluster(s) to the good solid ground points on the inner dash structure. This makes a huge difference in light brightness and more stable gauges.

I think some people have electrical gremlins on putting cars back together as freshly painted parts make poor ground paths.

Kevin, you are correct.

Whatever size wire (AWG) you use to feed your lights (or any device), you need that same size wire for the ground.

Very true and typically by the time we get our cars, the battery cables are insufficient in size and even when corrected, we leave a smaller ground strap. I'm not sure I've ever seen a 0 AWG or 00 AWG strap!
