Thomas.K.,
to PackardInfo and for including your '56 Clipper Custom Touring Sedan in PackardInfo's Packard Vehicle Registry, And for bringing to our attention the previous Registry entry. I have adjusted that entry to reflect it's change of ownership.

I saw your registry comment about going through starters which is odd, seeming to indicate some other issue rather than that of the starter. Perhaps the engine is somehow too tight or else the starters are non-stock but it certainly should not go through them. Putting in another engine seems overkill for what is likely something simple!

Hello...I agree with Don. If you still have the old engine can can do so, remove the plugs and see how she turns over. If it still turns over with difficulty...than check to see that one of the starter bolts is not just a bit long and dragging on the fly wheel...Then check to see if the plug wires are/were attached in the correct order...If there is no improvement, then you might well have an internal problem...all assuming that the engine was actually ever started. Ernie in Arizona. P.S. Mr Don is way above average!
