I can't tell what it's from but it's definitely not the one you need. It has a different design and should be like the one below if your car is a 1951-1954. Also, when you do get the proper one, be sure to also use the insulator sleeves that go into the mounting holes along with the insulating fiber washers.

I don't recall them when I rebuilt the pump in my 1956 Clipper but it's been a while.

That actually looks a lot like the original 51 pump but the arm appears different. No idea if possible but could or can the arm be installed upside down or would it work as is but with arm riding on a different part of the cam?

I don't think it can be installed upside down and still attach to anything internally. The pump in the photo I posted is a stock 1951 type based on its stamped number but if you're going by the 1951 service manual, they likely used an older photo as that's an earlier style pump. The service manuals are useless for this sort of thing!

You are correct. The other photo is from the 51-4 manual but the pump appears to be same as the 22-23 series 288/327 in this photo from parts book. Same block so the questionable pump could still work if the arm would work with the cam but the vacuum connections could be different on the later engine. I don't know if they changed to the nipples for push on hoses instead of the hard connections with the first 51s or later in production.

1951 pump photo that I posted has the push-on hoses as did all 1951-1954 Packards and Packard Clippers. The parts listing does not differentiate even though it does list different pumps for various years and models. They all had the same external appearance but there were internal variances so it’s important to know which you have when ordering a rebuild kit. On mine, it had clearly been pieced together in the past from several pumps as it had the diaphragm arm from a different model but, as I have many pumps from which to choose and rebuild kits for both types, I put it back together the way it should be.

As for the style, the only exception would be if the pump had been replaced with aftermarket and, of course, I can’t say whether the export models were the same or not but I expect they were. Again, the service manuals were printed before the cars were available so many photos were of earlier cars or prototypes and did not match production so must not be used in determining authenticity. Same with the sales brochures which were often airbrushed completely or from preproduction cars.
