Ross,

Top off looks nice.

I was fortunate to be able to borrow an NOS inner rocker MANY years ago. I had a friend make he and I copies. Attached are some pictures I took before the NOS inner rocke was shipped back to a trusting Packard person.

Questions;

Are you going to modify the outer frame brackets to fit the new inner rockers?

Did you box it in all the way to the firewall?

Will the body come off the frame, so the extra steel strapping can be welded to the frame?

Are you going to use the windshield as is, or cut it down like the Caribbean windshield? Will you add the extra bracing on the inside of the firewall? Can't wait to see how you are going to do the header.

Will you be adding the brace in the trunk, like the 56 Caribbean convertibles had?

I have more, but enough for now.

Holy Blast From The Past! Let the ride decide, that was me with the NOS rocker inners! Nice to know you are still around and still working on Packards!

That post was from 2013?

It was indeed! I'd never seen the post before this! I still have the inners sitting in the crate (casket?) I made for them!

For a really nice brake job, you want your shoes to fit the drums as exactly as possible. At this late date when drums have been turned a time or two the shoes will often just touch in the middle. It takes them forever to wear in when they are like that and you have excess fade and a mushy pedal.

There is no need to search endlessly for someone with a machine to arc them. I put each shoe in my press and support them at their normal contact points and apply a rather small amount of pressure in the middle of the arch. This flattens the curve. After a couple of tries the shoe fits beautifully in the drum with no loss of friction material. It is however very time consuming. Took me a devastating 11 minutes on this particular job to do all 4 shoes.

I’ve never arced shoes or linings but I do always specify the softest lining available which form themselves quickly. Shoes are cheap but drums are not!

sand paper or emery cloth in side drum a few passes back and forth will arc lining add shop vac to collect dust even if drums are stock it helps provide full contact. If you really scared wear a mask

Was very happy to have a warmish day in Parkton and got the main body of the next flatbed painted. One more warmish day and I can get the roof done in black.

He makes reference above to painting the roof black, which I would imagine could also include window frames.
