Yes, Yes, I know there has to be a reason why there are special tires for trailers. I would like to know what is the difference of construction and would there be any reason why a person would still put truck tires on the trailer?

Here is a website that explains the differences.

Before the narrow tread bias look passenger rated radials in sizes that fit the pre 51 models that used the 6xx and 7xx sized tires became more commonly available, truck and trailer rated radial tires were often suggested for those who wanted to use radials on the heavier cars such as the Custom and LWB models. Because of the narrower tread they did fit in the wheelwells and look more correct than standard radials but IMO, the ride using those light truck and trailer tires is somewhat more harsh because of the stiffer sidewalls.

Very true. Handling is better than bias ply but ride is a bit harder

Especially because while maximum cold pressure on bias ply tires was/is 32 psi, while you want to run at least 41 psi in such radials. It's been suggested that radials' high inflation pressure hard on suspension components, but you could argue that since radial sidewalls are weaker, have more give, that this is a wash. Some of us would like to hear from tire engineers, at the very least verbatim quotes from such men, not buffs, regarding this.

Please, let's not get off track. I am talking about using truck tires on a TRAILER..car hauler, NOT a CAR.

Bob, Point, was describing LT radials marketed for both applications, either with a speed range well above anything our Packards likely to reach.
