Due to financial reasons, I am forced to put my car up for sale at this time. It is an older amateur restoration that was probably done at least 40 years ago. It presents well with nice paint, chrome, top and interior, though paint does show cracks and some chipping in spots. Car has BF Goodrich Silvertown wide whites a nice, crack free accessory banjo wheel, goddess, radio (not working) and a grille guard. There is some patchwork in the floors, rear wheel wells and trunk area though the outer body panels appear solid. When I purchased the car in 2016, I had an extensive amount of work done to it by a Packard expert, including rebuilding the front end and a new exhaust system. The car has not run in about two years. I recently had a mechanic go through it who told me that the compression is low in a couple of cylinders (#1 and #2) and will therefore probably require a rebuild. This was after I had had the head gasket replaced, replaced the valve cover gaskets, replaced the water distribution tube with the correct one from John Ulrich, replaced all the radiator hoses and purchased a rebuilt carb (now on the car). I do not currently have the resources to afford all the work the car needs, so I have decided to sell. I am asking $22,500 or best reasonable offer. Car is located in central Connecticut.

That's a good-looking convertible, very sorry to hear that you have to sell it. Where is the car located? Also, some pictures from underneath (and especially the aforementioned body patches) could be useful.
I am not looking for an 1939 myself, but it would probably be informative for others

Also, what's the deal with the number plate? This could be a problem in some jurisdictions. Is the body-frame-engine-transmission still original to this car?

I'm not sure what is or isn't original to the car as I wasn't given any information by the previous owner. The data plate is what was on the car when I purchased it and I'm not sure why it looks the way it does. The car has been through multiple owners over the years from what I understand. Individual I bought it from purchased it over an online auction in 2013 and is a long time PAC member. The auction was held by an old car dealer from Connecticut. I am familiar with them but never did any business with them myself. I don't have any other history on the car.

It seems that my earlier ad from 2023 has resurfaced when it was in running and driving condition. This was before I had the mechanical issues.
