Time I shared progress pictures of the Speedster I'm building .

It's not a Packard but I bought 5 scrap Packard 120 Engines last year for $1000. Built one engine from pieces of 4 engines . Only new parts are piston rings & timing chain. The Crank, bores & pistons are STD . Theres some slop in the bores for sure but the engine starts & runs so I thought I'd build a car around the engine as a 10 year project.

If it turns out the car is worth it but the Engine is no good I'll have one of the other blocks bored out to 020 & make a fresh engine for it.

So much for the 10 year project. 6 months on and yesterday the car moved under its own power for the first time.
The chassis is from a 1929 Chrysler 75, Transmission is Packard 3 speed with R9 Overdrive , Thanks to flackmaster on here for the solenoid spacer.
Rear axle is Toyota , Front Axle is Fargo , Wheels are modern Chrysler 300c space savers with 650-18 Blockley tires. Home made manifolds with Weber IDF 40 carbs.

When I saw that clock on marketplace I had to buy it, the Lightning bolt arms suit my engines Thunderbolt head. The car is 12V but I put DC-DC converter and 6V battery in to power it, which will also power the 6V R9 Solenoid.

Care: 120 engines do not have Thunderbolt embossed heads!

Make sure you positively identify the type of Packard engine you are dealing with before you do any rebuilding.

I think he's mistaking the terminology of the smallest engine being a 120. Of course, we all know that the later postwar 288 and the earlier prewar 120 282 are two different things.

I now see he has "288" in the thread's title so he must be aware of which type of engines he has.
