Well... the engine that we bought from Calif that was "ready to assemble and run" isn't so ready.

Or it was before it was stored incorrectly in a location close to the ocean.

Russell called this morning with the bad news. Looks like the block sat for way too long without enough oil to protect it. It looked great until you tried to turn it and they realized all the rings were rusted.

4 or the 6 cylinders would clean up just fine. Two will not, and because the block has already been bored 30 over, there is no meat left. So those cylinders would have to get sleeved. The pistons are new, just covered in rust from the cylinders. Rings are toast, so new rings will need to get ordered. I think the tentative plan it to bore my old block out to 30 over, and transfer all the new parts over. As boring the old block out will be cheaper than sleeving the new bad block. Luckily the new head and valves are just fine is just fine. Also he already checked the crank and other items.

So not very happy that it was sold to me in this condition when he explicitly told both me and Russell over the phone it was it very to assemble condition. Perhaps it was....5 years ago.

So the engine adventure continues....

That’s horrible but at least a solution seems to be in sight without having to get into the queue all over again!

Or find a third engine! I actually shouldn't even joke about that.

Joking aside, if it came to that which I hope it doesn’t, it will probably be time to go back to a more or less stock engine.

Ughhh…well, it sounds like that between the two, you have a workable solution. I truly hope the seller truly believed what he was telling you and maybe didn’t know. If so, I wonder if he’d work with you on the price and give you a partial refund.

I have a similar situation

My dad had a perfect 37 block.

I took it to the place he was using to bore it.

They lost it.. twice.

This cylinder they went thru. They sleeved both.

But, and arc welded some, of cylinder, but the cracks are there..

The 36 block has little cracks in the cylinder , every one., another blick he has the same..

They do a good job of welding blocks these days. But. The cost.
... X 12... plus the bore..

Hello Kevin,
Sad to hear of you bad luck with the 115c engine, I do have a complete long engine if you decide to go that way. Also the email I sent was for Remi in France I have no idea how it went to you. If you are interested in my spare 115c I will make enquires as to the freight cost, with the new tariffs imposed by your Government on foreign imports it may not be worth wile.

Regards Pepe.

Finding a Packard Six motor here in the U.S. isn't an issue. I know where there are three of them. But then the Jackard wouldn't be the Jackard.

Now, if you have a 115-C clock, then I'm all ears!
