Kev - if it does come down to it and you needed to switch back to stock, there is a '37 115-C engine for sale near me. Complete with two transmissions. If you needed it I could easily pick it up and have it shipped. Yes it wouldn't be the Jackard anymore, but once you go through this engine I expect it would work great. Good news is it's only $350. https://kpr.craigslist.org/pts/d/prosser-packard-cyl-engine-complete-1937/7851085378.html

Russell finished stripping down the Jackard's original block and it went into the wash cabinet for three hours today.
Russell doesn't think this motor has ever been apart. Still is standard bore, but with taper. So even if we were not going to use the .30 over pistons, it would probably still have had to go to at least .20 over to remove the taper. He said at first glance everything looks good with it. It will get magnifluxed to be sure. He said the deck looks really good, so it will just get "kissed" to clean it up. He did a cursory inspection on the head (valves, springs, tappets, surface, etc) and everything looks new/rebuilt and no rust.

In other news...
Finished up most of the wiring, and also realized I had forgotten to install the wiper towers and linkage. Which would have been infinitely easier before I mounted the headlight switch and all the wiring. ![]() Just in time, as we had thunderstorms coming in this evening! 😅 Also I got Nicole's bluetooth entertainment system re-mounted. These are just inexpensive, weather proof speaker pods and a small bluetooth/amp module. It's all mounted complete behind the dash and not visible. We ran this last season and it sounds pretty good even while driving with top down. All controlled/streamed from her phone. ![]() Once that was done, I got the glove box door mounted and the liner installed. Also made and ran a harness for a future clock. ![]() ![]()

Dash and wiring are done. I painted the dash ends, the defrosted delete and the aux water temp gauage pod with dash brown.
![]() That water gauge is a 2-1/16 Autometer in their "Antique" line which has a face color that is pretty similar to the 115 gauges. The pod restless against the steering columns bracket pretty well. The also make a 2-1/16 Tach in that same style. It might look nice on the other side of the column bracket.

That looks great! So cool to see it coming together. The Autometer gauge looks really nice. I'll have to keep that in mind.

Sadly, the Packard temp gauge gives a general value. If it acurate at 180f, thats the only place along the sweep it is. If shows less than 180, the you know it's less than 180, but then temp it's pointing as is completely non-factual. Same goes over 180. 200 could show 190 as
Or 210. Which on a non-pressurised radiator is huge. So after spending an ungodly amount on an engine rebuild, I want to know precisely what the engine temp is, especially with a unpressurised radiator.

Same reason why I hid an oil gauge and voltmeter in the glovebox on my Deluxe. While no doubt useful, I'm not super happy with a 70-year-old sender powering an idiot light.

Here is a better shot of that gauge. Not an exact match but in a similar style and color as the stock gauges. Better than the black auto parts special.
