I own a 1948 Packard Custom Club Sedan and I am trying to get a handle on just how many of this model were made and if possible how many may still be on the road. My sense is that they are scarcer than hen's teeth. I have never seen one at the car shows or cruises I go too. Can only account for 2 others in my home state (CT) I have owned the car for 2 yrs. I know 1948 was a big year for Packard but fastbacks in general are rarely seen and Customs almost never. Anybody got some numbers on this make and model?

The Model Info section of this website states 5,935 TOTAL production for ALL Custom Eight Models (Sedans and Club Sedans).

packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/modelinfo/viewmodel.php?model=89

Have you counted 1948 Custom Club Sedans on our Owner Registry?
How about Custom Sedans?
Those numbers may tell you something.

The PAC directory that bkazmer gave you points to 'scarce.'

That's about the same number of 41 Clippers in the PAC Directory. I had 3 old timers comment on mine at PAC Nat'l Meets. "Don't see many of those."

Keep askin'. Also check with the PAC Roster Keeper for this model. He/she may have more hard data. Look on their website for contact info.

G'day Frank,
I'd say to PackardInfo, but see you are a long time member! What I don't see in your '48 Custom Club Sedan in the Owner Registry, so could you please include it there, together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it?

Yes, they are rare, at the 1999 Centennial with over 1000 Packards there were none, yet there were two I'm aware of in CT and perhaps yours is one of them, they were owned by Jim VanDuyne (blue) and Johnnie Peterson (black).
