Thanks for the info. Gotta say imo that mascot is cooler than the Packard originals!
So what would a ZIS that is restorable bring in the EU nowadays?

Yes. I like the hood ornament too. I'd even like one on my 56 Executive as long as i didn't have to drill any holes in the hood (use existing holes).
It's beautiful as-is. THO my preference would be green or purple with silver or gold star or better yet, maybe ebony with a silver or white Jolly Roger. .

The ZIS 110 ornament looks awesome no doubt about it.
ZIM GAZ 12 has a similar one only its a little different then that of a ZIS 110 (I have seen ZIS ornaments on ZIM but i think its something called the "owners taste") Picture of the original GAZ 12 hood ornament:pilt.delfi.ee/picture/5922799/

I agree whit Guscha on the "Gold rush" topic, its not only Russias problem, but It has happened all over East-Europe.
I remember in the early 90s many pre-war cars including Packard where sold to foreigners for beer money as we speak. But these days we wonder where have all the ZIS,Packard,DKW,Horch,Opel etc all disappeared, why there are left only some crappy rusty rides that maybe are good for spears but not for rebuilding. The anserw is there people sold there cars in great greed and in return a part of automotive history went away from us, could say lost forever.

Can you still buy a Trabant for beer money?
There is a guy in Toronto (100KM from here) who has imported a few Trabants. He had a good original 1964 model for sale for $4500. As he was taking it on a Sunday drive and was 200KM from home at the time, I assume it was a good runner.

Looking at that carb again I'd say that the Carter WDO would be a direct fit. The Carter WDG has the throttle linkage on the opposite side, at least the Packard version does. I know the WDO off my '48 looks nearly identical to that carb there.
