Thanks Gerd. I didn't realize they were mostly short wave. It looks with the various bands, the scale is mostly just for looks and might provide sort of a reference for fine tuning but has minimal relation to actual frequency. That would explain the 1-9.

The medium wave would be closest to our AM band but if memory serves, there is a difference between the continents. Tuning 560 on a radio made here would not work there. Our FM band is roughly 88Mhz to 108Mhz so also not very close.

Thanks for the references. Am not that much into the radio specs as you are but I do think you hit the reason there might be difficulty tuning a North American radio in other places. Could be wrong but I don't think ours can tune the .5 part and I think there might be another difference in the size of the bandwidth allotment or spread between stations

Why it's the Zar of quality control inspector. Obviously he doesn't like the fit, finish, or quality of that door handle he is inspecting. Apparently he IS a militant purest.
I bet he would be a hoot and a guys guy after 4 or 5 shots of Jagermeister.

I await in delightful and intrepid anticipation to have Vanna help with my vowels.

My offer would be that its Andrei Libegard, the guy who designed GAZ 51, GAZ 69, GAZ M20! I think he is behind the wheel to get some inspiration!

Well, not in this part of the world. I will have to think on it.

Lets pool resources, and our few remaining brain cells, and work on this together.

To kick things off here are my guesses for some of the words.

-re---ent = President
-- = of
t-e = the
--r- = ? (pure?)
--t-r = ? (water?)
-----n- = ?

Gerd, is there a prize, and can we share it?

President of the Ford motor company

If that so, then the question rises what was he doing there, was he just there on a trip to the Soviet union and happened to visit the plant? I know H.Ford Junior visited Gorkii automobile plant on 12.aprill 1970 when the new model GAZ 24 Volga went in to full production!
