Welcome to the PackardInfo puzzle corner, admission is free, any possible revenues will be used for the benefit of PackardInfo.com, the most comprehensive free online reference for Packard owners, supported and funded by user donations.

Riddle 2: What is it used for?
Tell us its special function to win goosepimples.

Rules (please read carefully)

A) first come, first served

B) interposed questions welcome
First YES/NO-answer costs a dime, the second answer costs twice as much as before etc. *.

C) to ask for related photographs welcome
First photograph costs a dime, the second photograph costs twice as much as before etc. *.

D) to ask for better edge sharpness welcome
First improvement costs a dime, the second improvement costs twice as much as before etc. *.

E) to ask for hints welcome
First hint costs a dime, the second hint costs twice as much as before etc. *.

F) to misname its special function welcome
The first misnomer costs a dime, the second misnomer costs twice as much as before etc. *.

* Attention, that's a quadratic function; e.g. the fifth answer already costs $1.60!

G) to disregard the right of way welcome
The donator always has two turns. That means after getting an answer / photograph / improvment / hint he has 24 hours time to guess the wanted special function, to donate again or to relinquish.
The first violation of this right of way costs $1, the second violation costs $2 etc., it's a linear change; e.g. the fifth violation costs $5.

Gerd,

Different format makes an outright "guess" a very long odds shot, so to shorten the price can you please provide us with the following?

Two related photographs please?

Improve the edge sharpness not once but twice?

Please provide two hints?

And the Yes/No answer to this Interposed question - Is it a Packard part?

Mal, quick as greased lightning!

Please find attached two related photographs. According to your request the edge sharpness of the main picture has been improved two times as well as the transparency of its inscription has been increased two times. With view to the result I believe to know that you will be far from pleased. To say thank you to a generous giver the first hint will be one of the hottest ever. I will tell you, what the main photography shows.

First hint: The photography shows a truck.
Second hint: Its passenger seat is empty.
First answer: no.

first related photograph (one dime)
second related photograph (two dimes)
first improvement of edge sharpness (one dime)
second improvement of edge sharpness (two dimes)
first hint (one dime)
second hint (two dimes)
first interposed question (one dime)

Friends, tackling isn't always fair but would bring a return of $1 for the benefit of PackardInfo.com. Don't wait. Mal is running with a wing down.

Gerd,

A wild "guess" - Is it a GAZ Jeep used as a field ambulance?

And my reason for this answer? I like donating money to PackardInfo.

To save time could you please also provide 2 more hints and 2 more improvements in edge sharpness?

That's what I call a wild GAZ ...sorry... I meant guess!

A field ambulance? I see, because of the empty passenger seat. Not bad but ... think big!

Field ambulance is a wrong answer.

Second hint: It's really a Soviet truck.
Third hint: Brand and typ doesn't matter but for the sake of completeness it is a ZIL-131, introduced in 1967. I drove this 3.5 tons 6x6 army truck several times.

There is nothing to worry about, if one of you would be interested to know more about Soviet trucks. This way to a large English speaking forum. But please come back soon.

As for the mystery game there is no need to know anything about Soviet trucks.

Below you will find the twofold improved main pic. To me it looks more like a hindrance than a help so far but ...

First misnomer (one dime)
Second hint (2 dimes)
Third hint (4 dimes)
third improvement (4 dimes)
fourth improvement (8 dimes)
