You posed an interesting question saying that you thought the LC was on straight 8 heads or were you crazy??. Actually both are entirely possible, look at the facts.
There is photo documentation of the LC on the cylinder head and a cursory examination of the heads of most Packard enthusiasts supports the theory that we're all a bit crazy.

There are cracked heads out there of both kinds.

Dave, after digging a bit deeper I understand that the mentioned date (12 7 48) is the block casting date instead of the head casting date. Please compare the complete related thread to be in the picture.


Edit: The engine in question has been replaced.
