Recently completed an overhaul on my 352 V8 in my Clipper Custom. Turned the crank .010 under, bored it out .020 over, installed rebuilt oil pump, rebuilt the carb and painted everything. Detailed the engine compartment also. Six months, a few thousand dollars and a couple hundred hours of my time and she purrs like a kitten! Enjoy the pictures.

David (Davepa), entirely possible that you've written the shortest overhaul description at PackardInfo.com; I ever set eyes on.

yes some "during the process" pictures would be cool.

and .010 under.....how long did you have to wait for you .010 over bearings?

and should that tube with the oiled filter on the top be black or like you have painted it? i thought mine was black when i pulled it off, but i can't remember.

check out my blog to see the work i've done to my motor so far. fun fun.

Hank

Henry my '55s was and is painted engine color. Looked to be original with remains of engine color paint when I took it out to paint.

Dave, very nice work. I need to tackle my engine room as well. I think that's another winter time project for me. I hope that I can finish the job to drive the car in the spring

Hank, My machine shop got the .010 oversize bearings for me. Took about a week. Tried MM but all he had was .020 over, but the crank cleaned up at .010. I've been watching your blog. I don't know how you keep up the drive to tackle a complete rebuild, I got frustrated several times during the six month engine rebuild. Keep up the good work, you will have something you can really be proud of when you are done.

bhappy, Start early, I waited until after the holidays last winter and just got it running back in July. Good luck.
