My point that I was trying to make to Al K is that because some person like BJM makes a few minor negative comments about an event PAC puts on, don't get all bent out of shape.

Al K tries extending an olive branch in one hand to the person, and then turns around and calls him a name in a back handed manor. Then also states that his comments amount to nothing more than rants and raves. Not a good method of promoting or trying to get a person to join the car club that you belong to.

I think making a veiled threat to me in public, certainly displays a lack of common sense or good judgement. However Al your perceived out come of that may be different than what you think.

Eric: Since Al K and myself have family that came from Germany maybe you should change your picture. Maybe the picture should be of a German Panzer King Tiger tank.

My father drove tanks during WWII, like you have in the picture you posted.

John,

A German King Tiger tank is an awesome machine, and it looks like the one in Eric's picture is a Sherman tank .

I chose that particular picture of the tank simply because it was the first one I came across that had a flamethrower on it.

I also figured that this thread can be used to air out differences between members here, without mucking up other people's threads that were started in good faith. I myself like a good "internet war", but there's a time and place for it, which is NOT in some unsuspecting person's thread. I'd rather see it all here, and I know I'm not alone in this request.

Hmm, should we limit this function to just one thread, or should we set up a "Flamin' Forum", yet visible only to those who sign-in, so each flame war can have it's own thread?

Really is this necessary? To set up a forum for flaming one another seems unnecessary. We are after all are mostly mature adults here with a mutual interest in a hobby about Packard automobiles. Can't we discuss and exchange information about Packards without fighting?

Time to move on. I have said all I am going to say on the matter for now. Unless AL K wants to post a reply to my last post. This thread will do fine for such things in the future.

Dave -

OK, forget the idea; I wouldn't want the "flamin" bit to encourage anyone. However, other good auto-related forums DO have decicated subforums, where people can go "off-topic", and some leave it wide open to anything - short of spam or porn.

However, keep in mind that the P'Info Forum was relaunched late in 2006 to get away from other more restrictive forums with too much moderation and where too many posts and even entire threads were being deleted - and people started pouring in, here.

Other Forums don't even want anyone mentioning a vendor by name unless its a paying advertiser and you're giving them a compliment. Rules like that don't really further the hobby, but only protect shoddy vendors who can afford to buy a club's favor.
