looks to me that Packard supplied some v8s to the hudson hornet and nash ambassador and the water pumps seem to cost WAY less.
any experience on these interchanging if one was to just change the hub off the end of the bearing shaft. looks like they are metal impellers of the same shape as the plastic Packard ones too. thoughts? Hank

no it is for the v8 Packard motor. the 6 has a hose outlet/inlet on it.
the only reason i know this is a Packard is it has the 6 mounting holes. the price is 45 bucks. its NOS, so i'm sure the seal is bad. i know another sourch for them for 75, supposidly rebuilt, but i refuse to do business with the guy cause he is EXTREMELY RUDE!! looks like a metal impeller too, not plastic. and if anyone finds this....dibs....please. idk..i'm just bummed about my waterpump and all the money i spent on it and i'm trying to be all cheap so i can get this motor in for Salado. It looks correct and price is certainly good. I don't have any Nash comparison info but if the guy says it's for the Packard engine, then one has to trust he knows his stock.
As far as I know, Packard only had the one version water pump -- but there were other versions of some items for Nash. Oil pumps & pans for example. Just something to be aware of in case the shaft length or diameter is way different. Unless someone has that info all you can do is compare them & hope for the best. You're an expert now on things to avoid while pressing so that change should be doable if things fit--or if you don't have the plates and center piece for your press, you could take it to a shop.

Henry,
That is a good price, in my opinion. You will have to change out the hub with your Packard pump. I still have not looked for a core, so if you buy this one, let me know. Michael

FWIW, most of the OEM pumps I've seen had a Bakelite impeller or the cast iron impeller. Some of the rebuilt pumps used a BrandX bent sheet metal impeller.

Stainless steel impellor as Jack Vines noted, this one provided by one of the well-known pump rebuilders. Works just fine.

And I have a rebuilt one with a cast impeller but has holes in the back surface so slightly different still.
