So today I striped the front end(next time i will get a buddy to help those front fenders are heavier than they look). I started cleaning the engine block and I found yellow paint on the block and black paint on what I think is the timing cover/fan. Does some one a good engine bay pic that show how it should look stock. Also I want to rattle can the frame should I go simi-gloss or gloss black.

Semi gloss for the frame. The timing cover is the same color as the engine, I think green for your year. Bill Hirsch has spray cans with OEM colored engine paint.

Sorry Ken, regarding the engine I have to disagree, think it should be grey. See this post and also this post.

Ken if you take a look at my blog there are many pictures of my engine bay that were done as close to factory as possible (with the exception of the alternator and ballast resistor of course). Everything is painted and finished per the PI Judging guide with supporting factory documentation and there are shots from multiple angles with the front sheet metal off the car.

And the engine should be grey, not green.

Hope this helps.

Today I thought I would work on the brakes, and as I was trying to get cap off the master cylinder I think i broke it. what size socket would that take? My monkey wrench was to big and vice grips did not work.

When I got my car, the cap was literally "fused" to the M/C from corrosion. Even a long breaker bar and multiple soakings in PB couldn't even budge it. I figured it it was that gunked up then I didn't want to mess or trust it as probably the bore was going to be really pitted. So I just bought a new M/C as that same one (51-56 manual) is still being produced.

It's still a current Wagner part number and can be bought from Napa for <$100. Or off of ebay for <$60.

Wagner P/N F3081

or

Raybestos P/N MC3081

Just replace it, and you get a fresh casting with no rust and all new material innards.

My trans is leaking for this hole is that a common thing for ultramatics? I will try and get a better pic but thats the lower bell housing I think.

I can't speak for it being a common thing with ultramatics, but I would assume it could be the front seal on the trans pump. If not that, then there is the possibility of some oil getting past the rear main seal. Do you know what type of oil is in the engine?
