Sorry no pictures but the starter is in and the transmission is ready to be installed. Next update will be bolting in the trans and seeing if the existing cross member will work.

I believe the cross member will need modified to work. I remember someone else posting a picture of theirs modified.

It will fit well. It's shorter so no angling trans to fit in x brace. Seems stock cross member won't need much modification. Yes the trans is old. Came from a parted out 97 gm truck that rotted out.

John a while back (post # 10) you reported the flywheel bolts were torqued to 25 ftlbs with blue Loctite. The torque sounds low to me, was that a typo, or is that the torque specified for that flex-plate?

Thanks for the look. Flexplate had no spec. Searched this forum and found a post that said 25 ft lbs. Do you have other information?
Thanks

If it was a standard shift flywheel the bolts are torqued to 55 - 60 ftlbs . . . that would be for a 7/16 X 20 thread diameter and pitch.

I looked in the Ultramatic section of the shop manual and came up empty.

Assuming the crank shaft is the same Ultramatic v Standard we can assume the crank is good to 60 ftlbs. Now the question is what grade bolts did you buy?

Another question would be how much of a lubricant is Loctite ?

Let’s shoot a flare towards Speedwell USA, and have Ross weigh-in on the bolt torque.

If there is normal thread engagement a 7/16 fine thread bolt would be torqued to 55-60 lb-ft. 25 lb ft would be for a 5/16 bolt.

Thanks. They are 7/16 fine thread bolts. The engagement area on the crank shaft is 3/16 thick. If that changes anything.
Thanks.

I met a gentleman recently that installed a 700R4 behind his 327 in a 51. He didn't recall who made the trans adaptor but he said it totally transformed the vehicle.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
