Ok, Im going to try to answer all the questions if i forget anyhing just let me know.
About 30 years a go a friend of my grandfather had an old logging camp about 15 or so miles in the woods. Now back then mind you these were dirt superhighways, now its passable by jeeps or 4 wheelers only (my ranger because its lifted). They would pick up beat cars like this Packard (there's also a Merc pickup sitting next to it 40s 50s maybe, and possibly a Chrysler so im told yet to be spotted)and basically use them as service trucks for the machinery. When the cars would eventually shit the bed because of the woods roads they would leave them where they sat. "I presume this to mean you'd haul the whole hearse out of the woods, is that right?" - yes if its worth the trouble but its been sitting on the drivers side for maybe 30 years. there are trees but they're no match for my Jonsered. "Be aware that you are looking at over 1,000 lbs in weight for the drive train alone." - 10,000 lb winch bolted to the front of my ranger and a block and tackle in a tree should do the trick once its out of the car... up the tree then down in the back of a lifted shortbed Chevy Its 1:00 pm now, I should be heading up around 3 or 4 with my 3.0 megapixel cell phone camera(my web cam is higher res) :D to take as many pictures as I can before the sun goes down. If you guys want numbers besides whats on the motor you have to let me know exactly where to find them.

Also say I was to sell the motor and drivetrain, assuming the body is shot, what would a typical motor of like this be worth? Hopefully Ill know exactly what motor is in it when I get home, get a better guess on rarity/worth.

Hi Travis
Your photos will be very helpful in identifying what the hearse is. Does it have Packard nameplates etc on it? Pontiac also had a straight eight powered commercial chassis in those years which was popular with hearse builders, specifically Superior. They were less expensive than a Packard and were popular with small town funeral homes. Steve

I just made an imageshack account and posted all the pics of the car. The motor is a packard 327. The blue truck is what i thought was a merc but i have no idea what kind of badge that is if anyone knows let me know. also the bus was from another area but same idea.

Travis,
Use the Attach File field below where you type. Have to save the pic's you're going to load as JPG files first(size restrictions apply also). Click on the Browse button and select the pic you're adding then click on the Done button to save it. Repeat the procedure for as many pic's as you want to upload.

Judging by the condition of the car and the engine, I'd let sleeping dogs lie. Too bad about the grille pieces in the Packard though, I'd like to have them for my '48.

The main piece of the grille is missing. It should look like this:
