The original "seal" that was obtained by torquing down the head would most likely be broken! It would be unlikely after that, that re-torquing would result in a good "seal" being obtained. While saying that, there are plenty of instances where head gaskets have been re-used and given good service! If it were me and for some reason I needed to take off the head I would use a fresh head gasket.
