I found a interesting thing in vol12, no.6 dated Sept 1955 of "Packard News".
On page 4 titled "Here's what you want to know about Packard car-a- vans!". Q: what cars participate in the parade and display at the dealership? A: the full caravan consists of the complete Packard and Clipper lines, plus the 25,000 mile endurance run car and a torsion- level chassis mounted on a flat bed trailer. In vol. 12, no. 7 dated October 1955 of "Packard News", there is another picture of the car and the girls, with John Williams at the wheel. It was listed as a bathing beauty contest. The girls names were, Josephine Bogle, Annette Howell and Sandra Shaw. SO could this be the car? Owen could you ask anonymous about it?

Sorry to say this wasn't John William's wife (who was much older when the Caribbean-Load of beauties was taken). Don't ever be surprised about the loveliness of our Southern women...it just doesn't get any better than down here in South Georgia and North Florida! When I post the shot of the Lake City, Florida beauties in the same car, I'll again prove my point.

One more interesting thing about the vol12, No6 "Packard News"' it mentioned the dealership in St Louis Mi, that was recalled in the article of the Packards of Oregon news letter.
The Packard car-a-van's was designed for "c & d " dealers! Anyone know about this designation? Apparently they were for rural dealers in population of 5,000 to 15,000. The Detroit zone was the 1st to have the car-a-van, to be followed by Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, and then Cincinati.

"C" and "D" probably refer to ranges of dealer sales volume.
This was used by another manufacturer that I worked for back in the 80s. "D" was their highest range - until sales grew to the point that they decided to add level "E".

Esquireman,
Do you know if the Lowndes county historical society has any more pictures? It would be great if they had one of the "25,000 mile car" , so we could see better what it says on the car.
