Good news, welding of block successful. Block, valves. guides will go to machine shop Tuesday. Have started attaching front/rear suspension to frame. Looking good.

Good to hear. Sometimes one has to get lucky on one of these deals. You don't have to ask me how I know.

Here are some photos to go along with Fred's update. The frame is cleaned and suspension components are painted. So begins the process of reassembly and then on to the body.

Nice progress.
Small point, but I believe that the side motor mount brackets should be the same gray colour as the engine instead of black.

It's looking great and good catch about the engine mounts as they should be the same color as the engine block. I suppose Packard attached them and a few other things, then painted the engine as an assembly.

Thanks fellow members for catching that, I disassembled two motors to make one and neither had any paint showing on the side brackets. When I degreased them I don't recall any paint underneath where the motor mount contacts it.

Fred is moving forward on the Limo project. The front suspension has been re-hung with all new coil springs and even the correct style spiral shocks. All components have been cleaned and painted their correct color. The backing plates are on as well as the brake shoes and corresponding hardware. All of which Kanter has reproduced to keep these beautiful cars on the road. The front drums will be cut on Monday and will be installed with bearings greased and new seals. All new brake and fuel lines will be fitted and then it will be on to the back half of the chassis. The rear end will get new bearings and seals and be put in place on the brand new leaf springs. Soon we will have a rolling chassis.
