Do have the insulator spacer between the carb and the manifolds?

Looks like the counterweight is gone on yours, makes it hard to see!
Yes, a carb rebuild is in order. I did not even hesitate on mine, just removed it sent it off right away and am very pleased with its performance, you will be equally happy I am sure.
You have quite the leak there, I suspect rad core, it looks to have wetted down the whole right side. It is a real tough spot to eyeball, removal of the inner fender allows a better view, but do not be surprised to see a wet rad core due to a myriad of pinhole weeps.
There is a reason one needs to constantly want to putter to love old cars!

For the coolant leak, I got my son out to take a look. It appears to be a leaking from the water pump, dripping down, and then the fan is blowing it all to the right side. (The inner fenders are not currently installed)

At least I know the source now, which provides direction.

You will need a heat valve counterweight. Yours is broken off and missing.

Also, and maybe it goes without saying, the heat-riser flapper must move freely and it wouldn't hurt to replace the bi-metal spring while you're at it. Max Merritt, Mike Chirco at Tucson Packards or one of the others should have these parts.

Okay…it seems my generator has decided to stop generating. I did a little trouble shooting with Ross’ assistance. I noticed that my ammeter was reading slightly negative when driving (no lights on etc..). The battery is fully charged and is at 6.35V. When I start the car, the voltage drops to about 6.27V. I then disconnected the battery and verified that the regulator points were not stuck and cleaned them. I also performed the re-polarization procedure just to make sure that wasn’t the issue. No change.

Then, after talking to Ross, I shorted the Field terminal to ground (momentarily) which should have caused the voltage to jump up. The relay did operate, but the voltage did not change at all.

So…my question…does anyone have any recommendations for someone to rebuild my generator? Otherwise, I do see that I can get one already re-built for about $275. I really don’t know what it typically cost to have one re-built.

Also, the generator that I have has been in the car at least since 1960 (before my Dad bought it) and is a Chrysler generator. That doesn’t really matter, just interesting part of the car history.

In trying to get my shop back into some kind of order and putting generators and starters back on their shelf yesterday, photographing them as I did so, I was surprised to see this. Likely not the same as yours but I have no idea where it came from!

Ross had told me a while back that many generators were compatible across makes/models and often when people had a generator fail, they just went to a junk yard and found a compatible one. That’s likely how my car got its current one.
