The rear window is hinged at the top and can be opened a few inches for increased ventilation. It was operated by a Trico vacuum motor with a switch located on the dash.

In an earlier thread there are several posts with photos showing the arrangement

Good question. No idea but if Packardtaximan sees the post maybe he knows. The window overlaps the rubber so there might be a tight enough seal unless there is lots of wind with the rain. Passengers are one time hauls so unless it was a deluge maybe they didn't worry about a few drops.
