A beautiful car but didn't last very long did it. IMHO, the current RR is butt ugly in comparison but I guess the RR mystique is just too hard to overcome & today's market didn't have quite enough demand for that many half million dollar luxury automobiles.

Will be interesting to see how or what they do to stretch the S class upward to cover that segment as they're apparently planning to do.

The Maybach is a car for rich people in Westport CT who don't know anything about cars except that at the Westport country club that sort of thing impresses people. That market is now saturated so who needs it? It never ceases to amaze me how the rich who get the money are so dumb about how they spend it.

As far as bringing back old brands there is one that stands out - Ford Ranger. Ranger was a brand in the old E-division and for some reason they decided to put Edsel in front of it. Chrysler 300 is another one that may disappear again in a while.

To me the new R-R Phantom looks exactly like what would have happened sooner if Germany had won WWII.

Come to think of it, it looks more Stalin-esque than anything else.

That's what I would call a brilliant argumentation. An English car looks even more Stalin-esque than Stalin.

Good to know that this idea came into your head after mature deliberation.

That car was a long shot. They gave their best but lost several million dollars. As Howard already mentioned MB will fan out the S-class to six versions.

Maybach was praised prematurely and received warm tailwind and that's no surprise - after buying Rolls Royce the eternal competitor BMW was close on the heels of MB in the luxury class.
BMW brought RR back in the black. No room for prophets of doom, the figures speak for themselves.

Lovely Maybach Zeppelin with body by Spohn at Hershey a few years ago. Unusual (but documented) color combination. Now an orphan car (again).
