Here is a brief video of the car. Nothing to special.

Hey Guys,

I finally had sometime to get back to the 400 after many days it seems of shoveling snow. I managed to squeeze in sometime to do a tune up on the old car. I changed the plugs (they were awfully fouled), cap, points, and condenser. All were in terrible shape. So I did the usual set the points, dwell and timing. Now the car runs awesome even in the freezing temps we have been experiencing here in NJ. Just two pumps of the pedal and a quarter turn of the key and she fires off. So excited to get this car on the road. Can the snow melt any faster lol.

Thanks
James

James,

Do you have an electric fuel pump on the car, or just a rebuilt Carter mechanical fuel pump?

The previous owner had installed an electric pump, but it was in-operable when I got the car. It was an inline that I believe was used as a booster pump for the initial start. I have since removed the pump and have been using the existing mechanical pump with no issues.

Thanks
James

Well work has been crazy as I have been covering for the manager at our companys restoration shop, but I did manage to find the time to do some work on the 400 this past weekend. With the wonderful weather that we had I pulled the 400 off the lift and took the opportunity to work out side and do some more wet sand and polishing. I am really happy with how far the car has come. I do have one more step in polishing and then it is on to the stainless and chrome.

Thanks
James

What a difference grunt work and perseverance can make! I am completely amazed how well all those rust streaks and stains cleaned up. The car and paint look quite presentable.

Agree with HH, this is indeed an astonishing difference.

I shuddered at you earlier pictures. Well done.

Very impressed. Bravo. I see that can of Comet. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I have found that Turtle Wax Chrome polish will do similar heavy duties on paint as the abrasive and touch of ammonia really whisk the heavy crud away. Around here we refer to it as Miracle Detailing Juice.

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. Its been a lot of fun and there is still a lot left to do. I hope to get the 400 registered and on the road in the next week or so and give its first shake down.

Thanks
James
