No Packard work - but our daughter and grand-daughter came over. Here's a pic of our grand-daughter, Livinia 18 months, in her first car, first time today, couldn't get her out of it! And although it's not a Packard I'm working on it and will steer her in the right direction.

Mal,

You just need to install some Packard Scripts on the side of her little car, and perhaps draw the shape of the Packard radiator on the front. That should pre-program the Packard into her at this early stage in her life!

Kev,

Will do. But will have to practice a bit on drawing the radiator first, might have to make a template and trace it on, because my drawing skills are not great.

Why do I have the feeling that this is going to look like one of those VW Bug Rolls Royce conversions?????

I see that your granddaughter car is center steer rather than right or left hand drive I assume that makes her a center of the road type. Spending time with your grandchildren is a very good reason to not be working under your project family comes first.

Actually, I was thinking of putting it on a 56 Pat T/L frame, dual turbocharged 327 straight 8 drawing through 2 x 4 bbl's, T56 6 speed trans. 4 wheel disc brakes not to mention a 4" section and assorted other mods but decided against it in the end. I just thought I'd let someone else do that and could imagine that a Mayfair coupe done this way would be exceptional. What do you think Eric?

I'm going to stick to the VW Bug Rolls Royce conversion look. After all, Livinia's only 18 months old, and she's just happy to have her own wheels albeit with a 61 year old grandfather as motive power.

And talking about Rolls Royces - Early one Sunday morning while out for a leisurely drive in the '38 sedan and passing through the local shopping centre a bloke on his way home from an obviously big night out cries out "Look, it'ssssh a Rollssh Roysssh". Gave him a wave and continued on my drive but now with an even bigger smile on my face!

I will post a pic once the VW Bug Rolls Royce conversion is complete.

Scraping, scraping and more scraping this time the left side outside of main X member, underfloor and frame rails, and.......this time wire-brushing! Almost all the underside, from the bottom of the firewall back is now clear of built-up dirt, old paint, surface rust, grime, grease and combinations of all of these. Tomorrow more wire-brushing, the knuckles cop a hiding in the confined spaces so must remember to take some leather gloves with me. Then it'll be Marine Cleaning time. Pic's below of todays efforts.

And last night Tony "Shocks" called and advised he has the sway bar shock apart and it looks good and should be ready next week. Also reminded Peter Toet in the chat room last night about the big nut and bolt for the front shock arm I require.

Mal from the look of your last picture you are getting better at keeping the dirt off your face and on the floor. When you get down to the end you will be able to spend the entire day under the car without getting dirt on you. But the painting may be a new learning curve. Also appears that you are working up a sweat doing all this work. All kiding aside your progress reports are great reading. Keep them coming
