Here is how I see a possible 733 estate wagon looking.

A good starting point, I kind of like it. Might I suggest you give it a try with wooden running boards such as sometimes seen on Minerva's and some custom Duesy's? And how about natural finish wood spoke wheels?

Re the wooden running boards- have you seen them? Some used rubber rub-strips in a metal retainer strip on top or partly recessed into the wood base for more sure footing, others had open segments (to let the water drain) which had a metal latticework in them. I'll fish around for some photos I might have.

And here's far better pictures of the 34 Pierce by Cantrell which might give you some ideas for decorative wood detail and tailgate style.

I have seen wooden running boards and I do like them. As a matter of fact my car had one wooden running board on it when I purchased it. It was solid oak.....the other side was steel and had been welded to the front fender. LOL

But seriously, I think that's a great idea and since I don't actually have any running boards right now it would make their construction a bit easier.

I also love the wood spoke wheels but I've never seen a set for sale and bet I couldn't afford them if I did. Maybe you know someone who wants to trade for my rare disc wheels? Someone removed the standard Packard (Budd?) two piece rims from the discs and welded on a set of Firestone safety rims which are dated 1928 . These rims have a locking ring similar to the Packard ring in section but it isn't "cut". It's a solid hoop and it's installed on an angle to the rim when all of the air is removed from the tube. It can't be installed or removed if there is any air in the tube at all.

I last saw the Lamb car in 1978. I was definitely unrestored and shabby, but intact. The person who had detailed photos of it before the barn rescue was Turnquist, so maybe those are somewhere in a library.

Paul also had a 34 Su8 club sedan in better condition than the Victoria. It was CCCA senior and had the chrome shell and shutters option which you can't really appreciate until you see it on a mint original car. It was all black and I drove it a lot.

He also had an unrestored 34 Su8 sedan with factory door panels in leather which is unusual. It was probably a livery owned car and the leather was meant to stand up to the rain.

Several years ago I visited with Ron Carpenter (Alamo, CA) when he was building a station wagon out of a a 120 sedan. I don't know if he ever finished it. Anybody out there seen it?
