New to the forum, the literature portion of the site has been a great resource!

I am currently working on a '41 160 Model 1904 for a customer and am needing some direction/input on finding a drive shaft for this car.

It has the 356 with the R9 overdrive. I have the master parts list, but there are no dimensions listed.

It's my understanding the this car requires a 2 piece drive shaft with carrier bearing & plate.

Unfortunately, the car was already disassembled when I took on the project with several pieces lost or not able to be located. The drive shaft was one of them.

Thanks for any help y'all can provide!

Perhaps you can locate a good driveshaft shop locally. A good one will have all the expertise needed to determine the length and fabricate a shaft for you.

I had problems finding a shop in my area that could make me a drive shaft (DS) for my 901. They could not fine a 6 bolt flange to bolt onto the rear end/transmission or balance the DS.

I did find one that could do it, but they would need to make rig to hold the DS so they could balance - all it took was $$$$. I'm having one made now by Driveshaft Specialist in San Antonio.

Ive got my fingers crossed and still waiting for the DS.

Thanks Darrin & others! This is a big help.

Luckily we have a very good drive shaft shop close by. If we can't find a good used one, we'll go the new route.

Thanks again.
