Opinions solicited on what other are doing.

I am personally sticking to replacing the old felt seals with new felt.

Anyone upgrading to modern lip seals?

Troy, I am going to do a front wheel bearing service on the '63 Avanti. The parts supplier sent felt grease seals. They look like new ones, not NOS.

I have always converted to modern seals and usually had to machine an adapter ring to press on to the seal to increase the outside diameter to fit the housing diameter.
My reasons are that I assume the modern lip seal seals better than felt and it is easier to buy a seal and machine the adapter ring than to have felt seals made (here in Australia).
I would expect that felt seals would be fine against grease but maybe not as good as a modern seal against oil.

I serviced the front wheel bearings on the '34 Eight a few years back; the grease seals were felt and I replaced them with the same - no problems and no reason to make a change.
