The 41 looks like a 2106 Custom Super Clipper. Note 356 engine solenoid and rear door detail.

The 47 is a lovely boat. The black wall tires give it a British flair as though it has been doing service in some remote embassy since 1947!

I believe that engine is the 282 with a conventional Bendix starter and regular solenoid. I think what you are seeing as a solenoid is actually the prewar Electromatic clutch control valve. Those were fairly elaborate units and had a large solenoid on the rear operated by transmission switches to modify the clutch engagement speed depending on gear. The postwar valve modified the engagement speed mechanically depending on accelerator position and was smaller and much simpler in comparison.

I would figure the painted chrome minor, compared to some of the Packard cars we've seen "hatchet-ed" on here.

That '36 is still ultra cool. What's funny is that I have seen Senior car interior chrome in the AZ desert that is really rather rusty & Junior painted trim that is perfect. Go figure...
