Hemmings:

1935 1201 Convertible Victoria. An ambitious project, but one worth doing if you have the resources:

https://www.hemmings.com/listing/1935-packard-120-448793?utm_source=autotempest&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=autotempest_premium_classifieds

1939 Model 1703 Super 8 convertible coupe. Would love to own this one but think the price might be a bit high and there are some obvious condition issues. Older, somewhat deteriorated restoration with cracking in the paint in some areas. What do you think?

Craigslist:

1934 Super 8 1105 parts car. Ad states car was originally a limo Body No. 755, Sedan-Limousine. This was the longest wheelbase model (147 inches) in 1934. Very rough and incomplete. Most of the body is gone or heavily rusted due to long term outdoor exposure, but drive train appears mostly intact. Ware, Massachusetts:

https://westernmass.craigslist.org/ctd/d/ware-1934-packard-super-eight-1105/7680868490.html

1941 120 Sedan. Looks like a decent car which would only need some minor work to be roadworthy. Major drawback is the horribly incorrect black vinyl interior. Kansas City, MO area:

https://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/d/pleasant-hill-1941-packard-120-sedan/7680746742.html

1936 120 Convertible Coupe. Recent cosmetic restoration completed with new paint, top and interior. I was interested this car and corresponded earlier with the seller. Interesting back story as the car has been in the same family for over 60 years and apparently, it was a very solid, well maintained original car prior to restoration. Definitely worth a look if you desire a Packard of this model. Daytona Beach, FL:

https://daytona.craigslist.org/cto/d/deland-antique-1936-packard-convertible/7680282550.html

Another 1936 120 Convertible Coupe. Price is ridiculous, but I really like this one. What do you think it is worth? I'd be interested for the right price. Salinas, CA

https://monterey.craigslist.org/cto/d/salinas-1936-packard-antique-vintage/7677274003.html

1946 Clipper LWB. Rough, but might have some possibilities as a parts car. Body does not look too bad. Orange county, CA:

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/newberry-springs-1946-packard-limo/7680985333.html

Ebay motors:

1948 Custom 8 Convertible Victoria. Project car with typical rust in the floor pans and trunk area. Rest of car looks straight and complete, but it will apparently need pretty much everything. Just like the car used in "Back to the Future". Syracuse, NY area.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/134782378308?hash=item1f61a7e144%3Ag%3AYcgAAOSw4pJlJvLX&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5337650957&customid=&toolid=10049

1939 120 Darrin Convertible Victoria. Magnificent car. Well, we all can dream, can't we. I suppose I could cash in my 401(K), but I don't think my wife would like that idea!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/335089531471?hash=item4e04e47a4f%3Ag%3AsIsAAOSwM9tlJgGQ&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5337650957&customid=&toolid=10049

1941 120 convertible coupe from Long Island, NY. Looks like a nice car at a really great price.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/134747626963?hash=item1f5f959dd3%3Ag%3A1YkAAOSwX8FlFc1f&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5337650957&customid=&toolid=10049

Facebook Marketplace:

Just listed today - 1929 626 Coupe. Looks like a nice older restoration. New York:

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/291032727091866/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post

1938 120 Convertible Coupe project car. Ad says it is a '38 but has '40 front clip. No drill outs for the '40 side mouldings and I am seeing a '38-'39 grille shell in the back seat area, so maybe you will only need to find the correct front fenders. Think this car came out of the C. Lewis Ablelove collecton. Body looks exceptionally solid, but it needs everything. I've looked for a '38 120 convertible coupe for years and have only found two that were unrestorable wrecks compared to this one, so it is a very rare car. If anyone on this forum is interested in taking this one on, please let me know. Car is located in Albany, NY.

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/640674604901063/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post

1954 Henny Junior Ambulance. Needs everything, but body looks very straight as vehicle was originally from Colorado. Illinois:

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2015996802111085/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post

1950 Station Sedan. Looks like a partially completed abandoned project. Long way to go. Indiana:

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1811420915939985/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post

Ad does not state model, but it appears to be a 1939 Model 1703 Super 8 sedan. Abandoned restoration project but looks complete with good sheet metal. Has sidemounts. Those would look good on that 1938 120 project in Albany NY:

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/853567199501922/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post

Just in time for Halloween. 1951 Henney Hearse. Looks like the one they used in the 1980 horror film "The Hearse" starring Trish Van Devere and Joseph Cotten. Arizona:

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/807172864416157/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post

Had to get at least one V-8 in this post. 1955 Patrician in solid black. Looks like a decent original car. Minnesota:

A part of me really wants to get that '48 Custom Eight Convertible Victoria. Yes it would be a project, but it would be a blast to rebuild that car right, and bring it back from the dead. And the convertibles had the best lines of all models of those years IMO.

Someone talk me out of it.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

Fred likes convertibles. She likes the wind in her hair. She loves her Clippers and laments the lack of ragtops.

And the ragtop is the only bathtub that Wat can tolerate.

Fred says, "do it." She just texted me. She also said to get for under $6K and reminded us all that it's always a good day not to overpay for Packard stuff.

I won't be talking you out of it, but you won't get it for under $6k. This is the car from the Louis Abelove auction (hope I spelled correctly) a couple years or so ago. It sold then for just under $6k +10%, then he bought tires and a few other things it seems. It was bid to over $7k just a week or two ago and didn't sell there. A month ago, he had another, much better condition and a lot of NOS chrome. That one sold for over $18k (that surprised me). These have a small but dedicated following.

Your biggest challenge will be the chrome around the trunk lid. Mine was missing only the center connector but I found a guy who made me one.

Good luck going after it! My favorite postwar Packard. If you do and post a thread, I would like to compare notes. Mine is an early one too, though that one is really early in production. It will also get my butt in gear on it... though my wife will not like me taking time from the house remodel/addition I'm doing!

Mike

If your looking for a convertible, we know where a 42 120 Convertibles is lurking that was FULLY taken apart for resto. Needs to be finished and reasembled. Has restored chassis and engine. Body tub in primer.

The 1948 Custom Eight Convertible Victoria was Lot #188 at the C. Lewis Ablelove auction (Phase 1) that was held in November 2021. Hammer price was $5,250. Commissions were an astounding 22%. There was a second auction (Phase 2) that was held in April of last year. I participated in that auction and bid on one of the vehicles but ended up being significantly outbid. When you factor in the high commission, I think a lot of people ended up overpaying on many of the cars, particularly the better ones. But for the most part, the cars were really rough and would be challenging restorations. Many were just parts cars.

Here is a photo of the Custom Eight from the auction catalog

This is from the auction catalog indicating the commission schedule applicable to the auction:

5. FULL PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED AS LISTED BY THE AUCTION COMPANY and Auction Company Invoicing Post Auction. It is the Buyers responsibility to contact the Auction Company if they do not receive an invoice via email within 24-hours after auction closes. Failure of buyer to supply a correct email address or claim of non-receipt is not grounds to cancel bid or obligations to perform.

6. A Buyers Premium Scale PER ITEM will be assessed based on the following, which will be added to the high bid price. (This is in addition to your bid price). NOTE: ALTHOUGH BUYERS PREMIUM IS LISTED AT 22%. OUR STANDARD 4% BUYERS PREMIUM DISCOUNT IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ONSITE CASH PAYMENTS AS IT HAS BEEN FOR MANY YEARS. JUST THE CONFIGURATION OF HOW IT IS CHARGED HAS BEEN REVISED.

$0 - $50,000 = 22% BP
$50,001-$75,000 = 21% BP
$75,001-$99,999 = 20% BP
$100,000 and Up = 19% BP

Buyers that do not pay on time shall be assessed a 15% late fee in addition to initial total amount due.

Please be sure to read additional Auction Terms thoroughly.

Think I might have found out why the chrome trunk lid mouldings are missing from the Custom Eight. Here is a rear view of the car from the auction catalog. Notice the Ultramatic Drive chrome script on the trunk lid. We all know that Ultramatic Drive was not available until the 23rd series, yet this is an early 22nd series car. Also, note the absence of the holes for the moulding clips. My guess is that the car was rear-ended at some point, and the deck lid was replaced with one from a 23rd series car. The 23rd Series Custom 8's still had the deck lid mouldings, so this one must be off of a lower priced model like a Standard or a Deluxe.

Agree that it will be a challenge to find the missing mouldings to complete this restoration.
