1953 Patrician Air Conditioning Set-Up on eBay

As many of you probably know by now, I'm an eBay addict but I noticed a listing that was put up today that might be of interest to owners of '53 & '54 Packards. There is a listing for a relatively complete air conditioning system from a 1953 Packard Patrician listed on eBay. The seller describes the set up as more-or-less complete and the opening bid is $200.00 - with no takers thus far.

I bring this listing to the group's attention for what it is worth. Imply no endorsement of either the seller or the item by my bringing this listing to the group's attention.

If someone with a 1953 or 1954 Packard wants to install air conditioning in their vehicle, this listing may be of interest. From the listing, it appears to be a factory installation.

Big Kev, interested in putting air conditioning in your clipper?

Might be a nice item to pick up. Unless he just didn't take a picture of them, I didn't see a couple of very important pieces in the photos -- the steering column control pod assy with switches or the solenoid valve.

Don't see the outside air scoops either. Still a great buy of a hard to get item.

I've been looking for those external air vents for a long time. Near unobtanium!

Did Chrysler, Cad or other makes use the same scoop or were the scoops all different from mfg'er to mfg'er.

Afraid everyone that used vents went their own path or else didn't use external.

Wait a minute. I'm certain i've seen the Packard style (pictured above) on a ca. 1955 Imperial.

The Packard style also closely resembles some truck cab clearence lite housings. If chrome is ok and 100% originality not necessary then an Indian Motorcycle front fender lite (47 thru 53) mite make a nice scoop. About $30 each last time i checked some 8 years ago. Rubber gasket avaialble too. Ask for plain (smooth) not feathered. Probably still some of the UNfeathered still around. Probably all over eBay too.

See Indian dealers Starklite, Jerrygreerindianengineering, Kiwi web sites.
