I have seen the car many times.Ralph brought all of his Packard show cars to the Fairfield Concurs a few years ago (this car, Balboa, Request, Panther Daytona, Pan American) and the Studebaker Museum sent the Predictor. It was great seeing all those Packard show cars in one place and being able to look them over carefully.

I actually saw this car before Ralph owned it when it had that stupid light on the roof.It also had a Chrysler engine and Chrysler push button trans. He did a fantastic job on the restoration and was able to track down the original engine and supercharger.

What a neat treat for those living in the Ohio area. In my mind's eye I recall one of the cover pages of a PAC newsletter featuring the car. I recall the man standing next to it with a very big grin. Guessing that newsletter was over 12-13 years ago. Those getting to see it in person, please post a picture or two. Thanks.

Would have loved to see it up close, with all of the other one-offs.

In looking at the hemmings article, I notice it has twin antennas in back, and rear windshield wiper.

Hi

Ralph has done a wonderful job of restoring and preserving this part of Packard history. I recall seeing it at Hershey as well, glad it's now in the hands of such a capable conservator. How they located the original engine and supercharger is amazing.

Now, here's my personal reaction to the car: does it strike anyone else as looking proportionally like a Packard version of an El Camino or Ranchero? While it's a one-off custom, it certainly isn't on the aesthetic plane of Ed's pre-war personal customs.

I was at Glenmoor (great event -- got to ride in and drive a '38 Darrin on the tour the day before) and took a ton of photos of the speedster with you guys in mind. I haven't had a chance to crop and post them yet but I'll give you a heads up when I do.

I was shocked to learn that the speedster was actually built off a 1951 Packard 200 Deluxe Touring Sedan! Of course, there was a lot of custom sheet metal fabricated for it, but even so...never would have guessed.
