Hi

The stars aligned at the Hershey 2013 show, both 734 boat-tail and 734 runabout appeared, parked next to each other!

Enjoy!

Steve

The 734 boat tail has been owned by Billy Vaccaro for many years and recently took awards at Pebble Beach following restoration at Automotive Restorations in Lebanon, NJ. You can see a few pictures of it during restoration at:

I thought the Vacarro car was going to be preserved as an original car.

I like the black car. That's what a restoration should look like. Is it the same car as in the picture below?

I see that Tom Kerr's cars are all for sale. Bea Jepson didn't like what they did to the phaeton. I remember when the 443 Town Car was original and I never understood why it was restored either. And why the original artillery wheels were ditched for wires. I'm surprised they didn't paint the radiator shell as well.

Oh well, if I had that kind of money I could behave as if I was taking it with me too. I never had a brown nose so I never got along with the big money crowd when I swam in that pack of sharks.

Tim, if you meant to include the Jepson's in that group, I couldn't disagree more strongly. As lovely a pair as I've known, humble, always willing to help, outgoing to newcomers in the hobby regardless of what wheels they had. And big money, no way.

Thanks for the pictures. Babinski did his usual outstanding job. We are fortunate to have a gamut of collectors, from us wannabe's to the really affluent. Damn, I love these cars almost as much as I do the trains.

I've done a little more in life than piddle around with cars. If the country wasn't going down the toilet I'd have more work, but nobody is going to hire somebody who thinks the FED can't afford to bail out the next stock market crash. I am doing better than some of my contemporaries who are now living in dad's garage. And way better than the Lehman crowd or the Madoff crowd. However, after the next crash the only group doing okay will be the Amish.

To answer a prior question in this thread (by Tim Cole I believe), yes, the red 734 in post#5 is the same car as the black/plum one. That photo was taken at the Greenwich Concours auction tent where it was sold to the current owner. I'm told by someone who should know that the black/plum color scheme is the original color scheme for that car.
